A town in mid-Batroun District, traversed by the “Al-Jawz” River and 27 km away from the city. Its altitude reaches 650 m. it can be reached from Batroun via Ijdabra, Bejdarfel, Kour valley, Sourat, Rashkedde, Helta and Dael.
Its St-Phocas’s parish church (Mar Fawqa) was built prior to the nineteenth century. It also has the vestiges of St-Peter’s Church (Mar Botros) that dates back to the fifth century A.D. in addition, there is St-George’s church (Mar Gerges) and the church of “Kfarmalkoun’s Lady” (saydet Kfarmalkoun) that includes paitings and old writings. Further, there is St-Theodore’s Byzantine Church that dates back to between the 6th and 7th centuries A.D. and St-John the Baptist church (Mar Youhanna Al-Ma’madan) in “Bsatin Al-Ossy” area.
One can also find tombs, sarcophagi and rocky engravings as well as old water mills on the river.
There is the “Al-Jawz” River waterfall in the area of Bsatin Al-Ossy”, the plain which is one of the marvelous and most fertile agricultural lands in Lebanon.
On the “Al-Jawz” River banks many restaurants provide Lebanese Mezze and food along with river fish.
