Batroun Villages

A village in the highland of mid Batroun region, 36 km distant from the City. Its altitude is 900 m. it can be reached from Batroun via Ijdabra, Bejdarfel, Kour valley, Sourat, Rachkedde, Helta, Dael, Kfarhelda and Beit Chlala.
It has several churches: St-Anthony the Great’s parish church (Mar Antonios Al-Kabeer), Sts-Peter and Paul’s Church (Mar Botros wa Boulos), the “Lady of Ayn Ar-Raha’s” church (Saydet Ayn Ar-Raha) and St-George’s church (Mar Gerges). One can also find St-Anthony’s Monastery (Deir Mar Antonios) and the Assumption Lady’s church (Saydet Al-Intikal) that are adjacent and date back to the fifth century A.D. in addition, there is a painting of St-Jacob engraved on rock as well as a chain of hermitages dug in he rocks.
The “Al-Jawz” river traverses this village where restaurants flank it banks and provide Lebanese Mezze and food in addition to trout.
